NEET-UG 2025 Paper Leak Triggers National Outrage; Supreme Court Calls for CBI Investigation
New Delhi, June 23, 2025 —
The NEET-UG 2025 exam paper leak scandal has erupted into a nationwide storm, with thousands of students, parents, and activists taking to the streets across India, demanding justice and accountability from the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The outrage follows the alleged leak of the NEET-UG paper hours before the exam was held earlier this month. Despite repeated denials by authorities, multiple states have arrested suspects, and a growing body of evidence has raised concerns over widespread corruption and organized cheating networks.
Today, the Supreme Court of India heard several petitions demanding the cancellation and re-examination of NEET-UG 2025. The bench strongly criticized the NTA for mishandling the situation and ordered the Centre to submit a full status report within 7 days, while also considering a CBI probe into the scandal.
“Students who studied for years deserve a fair exam, not one clouded by corruption,” said one petitioner during the hearing.
Meanwhile, protests have intensified in cities like Delhi, Patna, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, where student groups blocked roads, marched with placards, and demanded the resignation of NTA officials.
As many as 24 students and coaching centre operators have been detained in connection with the leak so far. The Education Ministry has promised strict action and a possible reevaluation of the exam structure to prevent future leaks.
This controversy not only threatens the credibility of one of India’s most important exams but also underscores the urgent need for reforms in the country’s exam management systems.
